The Jet Black Heights are a 5 piece band from the South of England UK.
Gary Anderson - Vocals
Mike de Souza - Guitar
Tom Gwyther - Keyboards
Chris Lockyer - Bass
Rupe Rance - Drums
As one door closes, another one opens………..and that’s how it was for The Jet Black
Heights, formed in the summer of 2007.
Lead vocalist Gary Anderson had parted with the old band name, under which they had supported
Bon Jovi and Nickleback on the UK leg of their world tour
 |

The group had been searching for the right name to reflect their unique style and after much brainstoming,
The Jet Black Heights became a reality
The band had been friends for more than 10 years having toured and recorded in various bands together over
that period….things slotted very quickly into place !
Their influences are numerous but include :-
LIVE, Counting Crows, Jeff Buckley, Killing Joke, U2,
Goo Goo Dolls, Van Halen, Muse and The Foo Fighters.

G has been in a number of different bands from an early age and like the rest of TJBH has never given up on his dream of earning
a living as a musician. ''Being in a band for me is similar to being part of a cult but a good cult. cos you all meet in a
room to rehearse or record and no matter what the weather or how much shit your bird gives you you will always turn up for
practice or a gig etc. i think all musicians feel a certain bond with their brothers in a band. i call them brothers cos even
when they piss you off you still love em cos your in something that feels special together and you all have this dream and
that dream is a mission to succeed at doing what you absolutely love. it's weird cos no matter how much shit this dream gives
me i just can't give it up''
Having graced the same stages as Bon Jovi, Nickelback & 10cc this front man was made from real passion and hard work.
His lyrics are delivered through a voice that is honest, calm, brutal & passionate all rolled into one.
I always do a show like it's the last one i'll ever do even if that means it's just the bar staff !

'I remember being mesmerised by the sounds capes on U2's 'Unforgettable Fire' album for the first time......that was my inspiration
to want to be a guitar player' proclaims The Jet Black Heights guitar player.
Mike started playing guitar at 15 on a cheap Les Paul copy but is most likely to be seen these days wielding his favourite
PRS custom 24.
Mike took that love of all things guitar to a variety of bands and projects before eventually coming home to the Jet Black
Heights.
'Things just work within the band, we understand each other's role within a song and we respect each other.......well,
apart from the odd Spinal Tap moments but we wouldn't be a proper rock band without that!'
Mike's playing can be subtle, vicious, dreamy but always with a heart-felt passion.
'I'm a Welshman.......we're a passionate bunch of boys you know!'

Brilliant is a word truly ascribed to this outstanding musician in every sense of the word. Tom started teaching himself to
play piano at the age of seven and reached professional standard by the age of sixteen without the traditional limits of classical
convention. He is now a regular pianist at top venues and continues to impress audiences across the UK in various bands..
Working with the UK producer for Elton John and eternal, and working at home in the UK and in Europe and America he has
acquired many skills in producing and promoting and performing acts. Tom arranges and records all his own music and works
exclusively within the music industry, adapting to an eclectic mix of musical and stage performance.
Refreshingly free and fluent in style and confidence, Tom will take you on a wonderful musical journey where you have
never been before, traveling first class all the way!

Bass life started as a bedroom strummer and then developed to a college grunger and then i went into a variety of different
bands & styles. I was in a band called "STATE" which we supported Tom Robinson, The Dharmas and Seven Little
Sisters which were some good festival gigs over the years. I have known Rupe (JBH Drummer) since our STATE days and have
been in bands with him ever since. I then joined a band called STREAM and then LOUNGSUITS before forming the JBH. I've written
& performed a lot of my own solo stuff and my influences are varied from the heaviest thrash metal through to Morrissey!

At 5 years old I had my first introduction to drumming from my dad's mate 'Cozy Powell' and after that I always wanted a drum
kit. After beating the hell out of two old sofa's and a couple of tables my dreams finally became a reality. As the years
have gone by and 5 drum kits later, too many bands, tours and cold transit vans to mention, Rupe helped Mike form 'The Jet
black Heights'. This is the most fun I've ever had in any band, even when we get on each others t!ts we seem to pull it out
the bag and manage to have a great time. Being on stage is such a rush for me i don't know why any musician would ever need
to do drugs and sh!t!! The music is the drug... Being the back bone and the back beat to the band is what it all comes down
to for me I love it!! I find it easier the bigger and better gigs we get, the less nerve-racking this whole game becomes
as though it was meant to be!
